All You Can Eat in Auburn, Maine
Yes, you can get all you can eat at two Asian buffet restaurants that are only a few feet apart. I can’t say that I would recommend a plate like the one above. We can only hope that she/he has another plate equally filled with veggies just out of the picture. But if you want to get all the spare ribs, General Tso’s chicken, pork dumplings, crab Rangoon, and sweet and sour chicken that you can eat before your arteries explode, Center Street in Auburn is the place to be.
Do you suppose anyone could draw customers to a restaurant that advertised “All you need to eat” instead of “all you can eat”? This Sunday in worship we will be focusing on the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with a small amount of food (far less than on the plate above). You can read that story in Mark 6:30-34. The story doesn’t mention that the people “ate until they were stuffed.” It doesn’t even say that they ate until they were full. It says they were satisfied. Figuring out the difference between all you need, or even all you want, and all you can eat is an important part of modern American life.
Come Sunday morning and listen to this story and share some thoughts about it. Come for a delicious meal of spiritual food, savory and satisfying, and enough to keep you going for another week or so. We worship at 10:00 am.
