Your First Visit

Welcome! We believe that in God’s House there is room for everyone; of every background and belief; of every race, creed and culture; of every gender and sexual orientation; of every emotion and ability. We look more like God  because you are here. Wherever you find yourself on life’s journey, you are welcome at High Street Congregational Church, UCC.

We invite you to join us for our worship service every Sunday at 10 AM for singing, liturgy, scripture readings, a choir, along with a progressive Christian message and communal prayer. Childcare and Faith Formation classes are offered for children of all abilities and expressions.  We gather in person or you can join us on Zoom. All are welcome! Come as you are!

We’ll greet you at the door and give you a bulletin detailing the order of service, and there are hymnals in the pews. Large print bulletins and hearing devices are available if you need them.

Why Church?

At High Street Congregational Church (HSCC), UCC, we believe that something awesome happens when we come together with people who are seeking a faith community.  We may not be from the same neighborhood, or the same cultural background.  We may not have grown up with the same faith traditions.  We may not have grown up with any faith tradition.  Yet, we come together as seekers who share our life experiences, our joys and sorrows and our passion for what is right and just for our beautiful and broken world.

At HSCC, when we talk about what we believe, it is an invitation to a conversation; a conversation that has questions and sometimes no answers. We believe that each of us is made in the image of God and together we can discover how God is unveiling Godself in our lives and in our world.   Together, we listen to hear how God calls each of us to live into being loving and compassionate humans that express God’s love for all creation.

Why UCC?

Whatever you believe, however you experience God, whomever you love, wherever you call home, you matter to us, and you matter to God. To be church together is to see our common humanity and to experience God in the stranger, in our neighbor, and in ourselves.

As a congregation of the United Church of Christ (UCC), we seek to love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly with God. Please join us!

All ages are welcome in all of our services. Are your buildings and services accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes! We continue to work to make our one floor building as accessible as possible, including having hearing devices and large-print bulletins.

Our building has no steps, allowing those with motor difficulties to access it easily. We also have multiple parking spaces set aside to accommodate those individuals with different abilities. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

What happens during a Sunday service?

The traditional service at 10:00 AM. and includes announcements, music, readings, prayers, and a sermon. On the first Sunday of every month, we offer communion open to everyone. We offer grape juice, bread and gluten-free options.

We stream services via Zoom, and are glad for your participation that way.

Do I have to sing?

No, but you’re welcome to join in singing hymns. Our hymns are printed in our bulletin and we have hymnals for those who appreciate having the notes to follow along to.

What are Joys and Concerns?

Part of our service includes sharing Joys (happy things you are celebrating) and/or Concerns (sad things you are holding). No one is obligated to share, it is simply a time when you can ask for prayers from the congregation.

Will I be asked to introduce myself?

You are welcome to introduce yourself during our Welcome at the beginning of the service, but you don’t have to! You will be invited to make a nametag, so we can be sure to address you by your name.

Do I have to donate money or make a pledge?

During the Offertory portion of the service, we have an offering plate that is passed by our deacons for those who wish to donate. We also have opportunities to give online.
